62.International Mother Language Day




Preserving  the differences in cultures and languages that foster tolerance and respect for others is a mandate of the UNESCO. This has prompted countries around  the world to celebrate 21 February as International Mother Language Day.


Ms.Mythili, of the Second Semester, BEd course of the college, presented the thought  on ‘Mother language’ during the special assembly held in the college. Ms Nisha  of the Fourth Semester MEd course  and Dr.Unnikrishnan, Assistant Professor in Sanskrit responded.




The  special assembly concluded with a pledge intended to evoke a  passionate love for  Malayalam, the pride of every Malayalee.

61.SUPW Workshop


Acquiring the requisite competencies in planning and executing socially useful programmes and to develop social sensitivity and consciousness in human sensibilities are the prime objectives of including Socially Useful Productive Work (SUPW) and Working with the community  in the BEd curriculum of the University of Calicut.


A  two day Workshop on SUPW and Working with the community was organized in the Institute on 07 and 08 February 2019. The activities  included among other things soap making and bag making.

While Dr.Unnikrishnan a faculty of the Institute demonstrated soap making,  a session on art work  was engaged by Ms.Reena John, Art Instructor of St. Joseph’s HS, Kuriachira.

60.Road Safety Week


To make people more aware of the traffic rules and to persuade them to follow rules while on road,  the Road Safety Week is observed annually in India .This national event is  aimed at raising public awareness about traffic rules and ultimately to reduce casualties due to road accidents.


A session  on  Road Safety  was   engaged by the  Mobile Traffic Unit of the Office of the  Commissioner of Police, Thrissur City on 04 February 2019. The programme was organized as part of the Road Safety Week. Inaugurating the session, the Assistant Commissioner of Police, VK.RAJU  exhorted the  trainees of the college to  develop  a keen awareness on aspects related to  road safety as  they will  shortly be taking up the teaching profession  and will be  directly  addressing a  generation of  young  learners. RAKESH ELIAN, SI of Police, Traffic, Thrissur City,  offered felicitation.



The two hour multimedia presentation  on  traffic rules and its  violations,  the various causes of accidents and  the kinds of problem  the traffic police in Kerala  have to handle every day,  followed. OA. BABU, SI of Police, Mobile Traffic Unit   who engaged  a two hour long interactive session  on Road safety made a profuse use of  illustrative videos,  visuals and  news clippings to  sensitize the trainees and  to create an awareness.








59. Trainee Assessment


Getting to know own strength and weakness  is a big challenge…Drawing on ideas  from current research  on Neuro-linguistic programming, ComPas Now,  a private company based at Bangalore  has offered to test the ability of the trainees of the college on  Presentation Skill, Student Facilitation,  Continuous learning, Research Skill, Creativity and Curriculum planning and Scheduling. These are areas  a  successful and competent teacher is expected to possess.

Taking the Multiple-Choice Assessment Test is purely voluntary and free for the students studying in the institute during  the academic year 2018-19.  Prior to the test, Mr. Ajay a member of the support team of ComPas Now, briefed the  students of the college about the test and  the  advantages of taking the test.

It is hoped that this  innovative and unique step by the Institute will help the students assesses the areas where they need improvement and find core competencies essential to achieve excellence in their vocation.
