Why do people dance?
What happens when you dance? How is Western dance different from Indian
dance? How many classical dance forms are there in India? How is Kathak
different from Bharatnatyam? These are questions only a connoisseur of dance can answer.... Besides getting an answer to all these
questions, the students of IASE, on 19 September 2019, had the special
privilege of watching a demonstration-cum- workshop on Kathak, by the acclaimed artiste, Ms.Shalini Sharma.
Trying to
imitate the graceful body movements and gestures of the artiste made everyone realize that it requires years of practice...Not only did the demonstration create an awareness of the significance
of Kathak as an art form, but also sensitize everyone to the
scope of a performing art like Kathak to open
the ‘third eye’ of perception.
The staff
and students of IASE places on
record our appreciation to SPIC MACAY
(Society for Promotion of Indian Classical Music and Culture among Youth-
funded by the Ministry of Culture) for organizing the event in the college.
