The
inauguration of IASE’s ‘Jeevani Wellness centre’, a joint initiative of the Directorate
of Collegiate education and NIMHANS, Bengaluru was held on 10th October 2019 in
collaboration with the World Mental Health Day Celebrations. The edifying
programme held in the college auditorium commenced by 10 am along with a
prayer. The welcome speech was delivered
by the Co-ordinator of Jeevani, Mr. Prasanth P., Asst. Professor in
Educational Psychology.
The
function was sanctified with the lighting of the lamp by the Resource Person of
the day, Dr. Monsy Edward (HoD,
Department of Psychology, Prajyoti Nikethan College, Pudukkad). The inaugural
speech by Dr. Monsy Edward on the topic “Problem of Adolescence: Identification
and Remedies” enhanced the significance of the day. He reflected his profound
knowledge on the topic and discoursed about the kinds of learning disabilities
that are commonly identified among students such as the Specific Learning
Disability, Developmental Arithmetic Disorder, Autism etc. The ‘attention and
concentration’ power of students was yet another topic which called for an
elaborate conversation. The explanatory session incited the students to grasp
the subject matter and familiarize with the
remedial measures to be adopted while confronting such challenges.
An
essay and Poster completion was held as part of the World Mental Health day.
