151.National Seminar 11 November

IASE, Thrissur organized a National Seminar on 11 November 2019  in honour of Moulana Abdul Kalam Azad. The inaugural address was delivered by Dr.M.A. Babu, former Principal of Rastriyasanskrit Sansthan,Guruvayoor Campus.  The inaugural session was followed by paper presentation sessions. Dr. Harinarayanan  served as co-ordinator of the seminar.

150.Principal’s Workshop

IASE, Thrissur was that host for a One-Day Workshop on Contemporary Initiations of NCTE with PAR.

149. Visit to Santhibhavan

The students of  IASE, Thrissur visited Santhibhavan, India’s first Palliative Hospital, as part of a programme organized by the Jeevani  Wellness Centre.

The CEO of Santhibhavan hospital Fr. Joy Kuthur interacted with the  students and  briefed them about its functioning. Santhibhavan  is unique in that it doesn’t have  a Cash Counter and the services are completely cashless. The students  also  interacted  with the inmates of the hospital.

The students  were accompanied by Sri. Venugopal, Asst.Professor in Mathematics and the Counsellor of Jeevani Centre, Ms. Naina Vincent.

148. Pre-service Workshop

Every  year,  utilizing  Plan Fund sanctioned by the Department of Collegiate Education, programmes are organized in the college. This academic year 2019-20, the student-based programme  entitled ‘Pre-service Course in Research Methodology and Inferential Statistics was organized from 29 October to 02 November 2019 for the first year MEd students.  Dr. Mubi K Mohammed Ali was the Course  Coordinator.

147.Kerala Piravi

November 1, 1956 marked the birth of the state of Kerala. Known as 'Kerala Piravi' in local parlance, this is one day when the traditional Kerala attire is worn by all in the state, irrespective of religion, caste or creed.

The Governor of Kerala wished all Malayalees on the occasion:

The ace singer and alumni of IASE, Sri Murali Puranattukara was the chief guest for the Kerala Piravi celebrations organized  by the  College Union on  November 1,  2019.

146.October 31st

Rashtriya Ekta Diwas is observed on 31st October in India and is also known as National Unity Day. It commemorates the birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel, known as  the Iron Man of India who played an  important role in uniting India.

The day is also celebrated as National Rededication Day or Rashtriya Sankalp Diwas to pay homage to the first woman Prime Minister of India, Indira Gandhi who had worked dedicatedly to safeguard national integration of the country.

To mark the occasion a  special programme was  organized in the college auditorium.   An essay competition on the topic ‘United we stand, divided we fall’  and a Poster competition on the topic ‘Changing  Kerala’ was  also conducted .

145. Police Commemoration Day

National Police Commemoration Day is observed every year on October 21 remembering the brave policemen who sacrificed their lives while discharging their duties.

A tweet by  the Hon. Prime Minister reads:

The staff and students of  IASE, Thrissur were invited to Thrissur East Police Station on the occasion.  The Officers on duty  briefed them on the  nature of work they perform  and  also familiarized them with the  equipments and weapons they use ... For the  students it was an unique learning experience. 

144.Restart A Heart Day

IASE, Thrissur in association with Govt. Model Boys Higher Secondary School organized a programme on World Restart A Heart Day. The programme was inaugurated by the District Collector, Shri S.Shanavas IAS.      

Restart a Heart Day is a  originally a global initiative developed by the European Resuscitation Council, to raise awareness of the importance of teaching members of the public how to help restart the heart of someone who has suffered a cardiac arrest.

                                                                  

Multimedia presentations and  demonstrations by medial doctors on ways of  restarting the heart followed.     

143. National Seminar- October 2019

A National Seminar  on the ‘Educational Ideals of  Dr.A.P.J. Abdul Kalam’  was  held in the college on 15 October, 2019,   the birth anniversary of the  former President of India.

 The Seminar was inaugurated by Dr. A Safiya Beevi,  Deputy Director of Collegiate Education, Thrissur. The  Keynote address was delivered by Dr. M. A. Sudhir Emeritus Professor, Gandhigram University, Dindigal. Parallel Paper presentation sessions were also organized during  the Seminar.

 

142. Jeevani Wellness Centre

The inauguration of  IASE’s ‘Jeevani Wellness centre’, a joint initiative of the Directorate of Collegiate education and NIMHANS, Bengaluru was held on 10th October 2019 in collaboration with the World Mental Health Day Celebrations. The edifying programme held in the college auditorium commenced by 10 am along with a prayer. The welcome speech  was delivered by  the Co-ordinator of Jeevani, Mr. Prasanth P., Asst. Professor in Educational Psychology.

The function was sanctified with the lighting of the lamp by the Resource Person of the day, Dr. Monsy Edward (HoD, Department of Psychology, Prajyoti Nikethan College, Pudukkad). The inaugural speech by Dr. Monsy Edward on the topic “Problem of Adolescence: Identification and Remedies” enhanced the significance of the day. He reflected his profound knowledge on the topic and discoursed about the kinds of learning disabilities that are commonly identified among students such as the Specific Learning Disability, Developmental Arithmetic Disorder, Autism etc. The ‘attention and concentration’ power of students was yet another topic which called for an elaborate conversation. The explanatory session incited the students to grasp the subject matter  and familiarize with the remedial measures to be adopted while confronting such challenges.

An essay and Poster completion was held as part of the  World Mental Health day.

141.Tourism Club Inauguration

Besides opening up earning opportunities, many perceive tourism as an individual activity of travelling and visiting places. Tourism clubs in educational institutions help cultivate the right attitude towards tourism  among students. Properly planned it can sensitize students to the tourism possibilities in their own locality and help preserve tourism spots which are hailed as heritage sites.

The Tourism Club 2019-20 of IASE, Thrissur was inaugurated by Dr.Kavitha, Secretary, District Tourism Promotion Council, Thrissur. A video  on World Tourism Day was also presented.

A digital photography exhibition was held in this  connection. The  entries for the exhibition was collected from the members of the Tourism Club  on  the theme ‘Nature and Landscape’.  Those who participated included  Aiswarya Lakshmi, Rosewin Peter, Rinshi Balu, Deepthi Suresh and Sisira.
