140.Gandhi on Silver screen

Hindol Sengupta’s intriguing  title  of  a five column article in the Deccan Chronicle Saturday 05, 2019 reads ‘Everything you heard about Gandhi and Capitalism is wrong’. And in the  article Hindol states   “...when   I was writing Recasting India, I discovered what I think of as the greatest lie ever told about Gandhi...that he was somehow against business, against enterprise or against entrepreneurship...”

Films don’t just only stir our imagination, they become mirrors to society, educate us, and  inspire us too. So  the choice  of  films for the  monthly  film screening  programme of   IASE, Cinema Talkies were films on the life of Gandhiji...The simple  rationale being that if   Hindol  made a discovery ...won’t  the viewing of films  on  Gandhi help  understand the father of the nation better  through multiple perspectives.

This time  the special invitees for the screening were the NCC cadets of  Govt.Model HSS,Thrissur. The screening commenced after a brief talk on Gandhian ideals by Sri. Jagadeeshan of the  Gandhi Smaraka Nidhi.
