173.Therapeutic Dance


The  Health Club of IASE, Thrissur recently organized a Therapeutic  Dance session for  the students of the college. The session was engaged by Ms. Andrea PP, a Therapeutic  Movement facilitator-CID UNESCO.  It commenced with a brief talk on the advantages of  therapeutic dance.

Such dance movements is used to help individual achieve emotional, cognitive, physical and social integration. It also provides  a safe space for expression of feelings.



172. Workshop on LAC



A workshop on Language Across The Curriculum-Reading and Reflecting on Texts was organized   for the Second Semester BEd students of IASE utilizing funds from the Department of Collegiate Education. Sri Prasanth, Assistant Professor in Educational Psychology coordinated the Workshop. Session were engaged by Prof. Lal of the School  of Distance Education, University of Kerala and Dr. Minikumary,  faculty of NSS Training College, Ottapalam. Additional sessions were engaged by Dr. C.Praveen, Principal of IASE, Thrissur.


171. Internship S2 MEd


In tune with the revised MEd curriculum guidelines,  the  Second Semester MEd students of IASE were sent to different colleges of Teacher Education in Thrissur. During  Jan-Feb 2020 for a period of  three weeks, the  students had an opportunity to engage classes in General Papers prescribed for study at the BEd level. The faculty of IASE Thrissur had visited the local colleges to observe the classes engaged by the MEd students.



170.Republic Day 2020


Our Constitution gave us rights as citizens of a free democratic nation, but also placed on us the responsibility to always adhere to the central tenets of our democracy - justice, liberty, equality and fraternity. It becomes easier for us to follow these constitutional ideals, if we keep in mind the life and values of the Father of our Nation. By doing so, we will be adding a meaningful dimension to our celebrations of 150th birth anniversary of Gandhiji.

Usually during  Republic Day as part of celebrations several programmes are organized in the college. But this year the revised Examination schedule of the BEd and MEd courses clashed with the preparations of programmes for the Republic Day 2020. Hence the day’s programme  in IASE, had to be limited to flag hoisting  by the Principal, Dr. C.Praveen followed  speeches  and distribution of  sweets.

169.Gandhi exhibition


One of the proposed programmes of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of IASE,Thrissur  was an exhibition on Mahatma Gandhi during the 150 Birth anniversary.    Photographs and stamps  from the personal collection  of  Sri. Govindankutty, an alumni of IASE were displayed in the college auditorium.. The exhibition was inaugurated by Sri. TN. Prathapan,  Member of Parliament.









168.Workshop on Understanding the Self


It is commonly agreed that when we possess a strong understanding of ourselves, we are able to understand our reactions, decipher the responses of others and recognize the areas in which we should focus  for positive development. The current syllabus for the BEd course  of the University of Calicut, requires colleges of Education to organize workshops for the same. This year, from in the last week of January 2020, Ms. Anitha, Asst. Prof in Educational Psychology organized a workshop on Understanding the Self  for the fourth semester BEd students of the college. Sessions that deserve special mention include  ones on  Refreshing Body and Mind, Connecting Music in Nature and Gender and upbringing.  The workshop was funded by the Department of Collegiate Education.








167.Workshop for S3 BEd


Hands-on experience in the use of  ICT tools  is expected of the BEd  trainees as per the syllabus of the University of Calicut. Thanks to a generous funding from the Department of Collegiate Education, a workshop on ‘Towards a Techno-Pedagogue’ was organized in the college from 21 to 24 January 2020. Dr. Anju I, Asst. Professor in Physical Science  served as co-ordinator of the Workshop.




166.Workshop for S3 MEd


Utilizing funds  made available by the Department of Collegiate Education, a workshop on Tool Finalization, Data Analysis and Report Writing was held in the college  from 20 to 24 January, 2020.   For the  third semester MEd students  currently pursuing  research  and  engaged in data collection  and  completion of their dissertation,  the workshop turned out to be extremely useful. Sri Venugopal, Asst. Professor in Mathematics  was the coordinator of the Workshop.



165.Seminar on National Youth Day


Many perceive the philosophy  of Swami Vivekananda and the ideals for which he lived and worked could be a great source of inspiration for the Indian youth.

As part of the Platinum Jubilee celebrations of the college a  National Seminar was organized on the 155th Birth anniversary of Swami Vivekananda-12 January 2020. The students of IASE  presented papers on the contributions of Swami Vivekananda and   themes related to education.




164. Sports Meet

With a view to creating an awareness about healthy life style, sessions on health and Physical Education, including yoga are engaged for the BEd students of the college as part of  course work. The annual Sports Meet is a culmination of all the activities related to sports during an academic year. This year in January, the annual Sports Meet was organized in the ground  of  Vimala College, Thrissur.

Shot put, Javelin Throw, Long jump and races for both Men and Women were conducted.  The faculty and the College Union, assisted Dr.Sreekala, Assistant Professor in Physical Education in organizing the Sports Meet. There was also separate events for the teaching and non-teaching staff.














163. Students against climate change



On new year day 2020, the students of IASE, Thrissur had joined the Climate Circle event hosted by Students for Climate Resilience in the ground adjacent to  Swaraj Round.  There Ridhima Pandey, the young environmentalist from India who in 2017 sued  the  Indian government at the National Green Tribunal, against their alleged inaction in tackling the effects of climate change addressed the students…


Ridhima posed the question… “We have a right to a healthy and clean environment, a healthy life, and a safe future. But are we getting it?”

162. X’mas


Every year Christmas is celebrated just before vacation...But with  regular workshops and  university examinations upsetting normal schedule, it was possible celebrate Christmas only after college reopening  in the last week of December.  The programme which included, a quiz, cake cutting and  games were organized by the College Union.
