35-Kerala @ 62


01 November 2018….Its  Kerala Day…62 years …a moment of pride…But when asked for a message on the eve…the Hon. Chief Minister of  Kerala,  reminded Keralites about the massive task of rebuilding the state ‘after surviving the unprecedented devastation caused by the deluge by upholding the principles of fraternity, unity and companionship’.

The Chief Minister’s thought found an echo in the ‘Thought For The Day’ programme during the morning Assembly. In the afternoon the  College Union,  ‘Amogha’  organized a novel  programme to mark Kerala Day.

Kerala turned 62 this year and Kerala Piravi was celebrated in IASE, Thrissur on November 1st. The programme started with a prayer by Ms.Simi (MEd student).Ms.Soundarya, the Vice Chairperson, College Union, welcomed everyone to the programme. She addressed the gathering and said: “though it is the 62nd birthday of Kerala, we can consider it as the first birthday of Kerala after the severe flood.”

On behalf of the students of the College Union, various programmmes like Malayala Thanima. The show  was intended to prove that internal beauty is more important than the external beauty…It also helped identify the  intelligence, Malayalam speaking skills, opinion on current affairs and their awareness  of Kerala culture.

Ms.Sindhu S1BEd Malayalam) bagged the first prize and Ms.Steny (S1 BEd Physical Science)  became the first runner up. Students also presented  group dance, group song, Vanchipattu and Malayalam recitation. A presentation on Kerala history was done by Saranya Radhakrishnan(S1 BEd Social Science).

Prize distribution of various off stage events like poster making and Malayalam versification conducted as part of Kerala Piravi, were distributed during the ceremony.

Ms.Lekshmi (S1 BEd Sanskrit) and Ms.Athiramol Sabu (S1 BEd Mathematics) got the first and second prize respectively for Malayalam versification competition.

Ms. Anju (S1 BEd Hindi) and Ms.Amrutha P.Santhosh (S1 BEd English) won the first and second prize respectively for poster making competition.


Mr.Sreesanth (University Union Councillor) delivered the vote of thanks.
