Many perceive Film
as a powerful educational medium. With its 'universal
language' it helps overcome the barriers of textual learning. In IASE, film clips
are regularly used to stimulate
discussions and to provide a space
for reflection and dialogue.
Early this academic year a session
entitled Grooming Through The Movies was engaged for the
MEd students of the college. The session made use of clips from several
foreign films including, TURTLES CAN FLY and THE TIN DRUM. Short films were
screened on Teacher’s Day, Constitution Day and Women’s
Day.
For weeks, the Principal and teacher in charge of the Film
Club, Dr.C. Praveen had been on the look
out for a suitable personality to inaugurate the Film Club of IASE. Last week, it became
possible with the visit of the
renowned director of Malayalam
short films, Mr. Sudevan to the college.
PLANNING, Sudevan’s Malayalam Short Film was screened on the occasion. The
screening of the film was preceded by a brief
talk in which the director shared his own experience of making films.
