In August 2019,
before the rain intensified, the students of IASE, could safely
reach their homes...
When the roads to the Institute were cut off owing to
rising water levels, only the staff of
the college could participate in
providing assistance to the flood victims.
Please see
Last year,
a few houses
were completely destroyed in places like Echippara
from where Ms.Seena, a
former Panchayat member, and presently
student of the
MEd course resides.
Ms.Seena is also a coordinator of an NGO, Aid India. Recently the keys of
houses built through Aid India
funding were handed over to those who lost their houses in last years’
flood.
The college in
a special session felicitated Ms.Seena for being a role model through
her community work.
A week after the flood, old students of the Government College which functioned in the same building of
IASE, decades ago, met in IASE and contributed to flood relief. On 02 September,
the flood relief materials donated to
Wyand was flagged off by the local
Councillor of Thrissur Corporation from
IASE, Thrissur.
When the
college reopened after the flood, interested students were asked to contribute to flood relief. It is
proposed to utilize the amount collected before Onam vacation to purchase Onam
Kit. These kits will be distributed to people affected by the flood in Waynad
by students of the college, who are
natives of Wyanad.
